ANDREW C. MILLER, ESQ., a senior associate in the Insurance Practice Group at SE&B, began his legal career as a judicial law clerk in Burlington County New Jersey, serving both Victor Friedman in the civil section of the Law Division and Paul Kramer in the criminal section (while still in law school, he had served an internship with Circuit Judge Frank Altimari in Nassau County, New York). Mr. Miller then moved on to the New Jersey Attorney General's office, where he spent several years with the Insurance Section handling the monumental "JUA" lawsuit filed by then Governor Florida against a large number of automobile insurers who had allegedly mismanaged the state's high-risk insurance pool. He then transferred to the Environmental Section and spent several more years representing the Department of Environmental Protection in regulatory litigation and assisting in drafting solid waste regulations. After leaving the Attorney General's office and before entering the private practice of law, Mr. Miller spent a few years teaching law in Russia, as well as advising local government on regulatory reform and working as a consultant with several multinational law firms which maintained Russian outposts, having studied Russian politics extensively as an undergraduate. In 2000, Mr. Miller joined the firm of Karasik & Associates LLC, which merged in 2009 into Simon, Eisenberg & Baum, LLP. While a senior associate with the Karasik firm, Mr. Miller represented insurance companies in complex environmental coverage cases and also handled insurance defense matters. He represented insurer clients such as Royal Insurance Company, Protective National Insurance Company, Guaranty National Insurance Company, Reliance Insurance Company and Riunione Adriatica de Sicurta. Mr. Miller holds B.A. (1985) and M.A (1986) degrees in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. degree from Hofstra University (1989). He speaks French and Russian. He is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey in both state and federal court.
